my morning in westmont
i spent a lovely morning in westmont, illinois. the quaint town is about 40 minutes outside of the city and really is a bustlin’ ‘ville. i needed to drive my little car out to the garage this morning and then i was going to catch the train back into the city.
well, i missed the 8.20. so i popped into Dolce’s espresso bar. i don’t think the baristas had seen the likes of me...

something to zoo
i went to a charity event tonight for the ronald mcdonald house. it was at the lincoln park zoo: one of my favorite places.
however, the entire time, i kept thinking: ‘i’m sure this band is really keeping the animals up.’ also, while they were serving dinner, i thought: ‘is it weird that i’m eating beef… at the zoo?’

give me a C!
last night, some guy mistaked my mom for a cougar. she is NOT a cougar. she’s a beautiful woman. not a cougar. that cougar has been shot long ago in roscoe village (cue kevin’s joke: ‘but don’t cougars only hang out in the gold coast?’) N E WAYZ… this drunk guy comes up to my mom (we were all out at an event for work) and starts hitting on my mother. MY mother....

hungry hungry hippo
as i was introduced to someone this afternoon, we shook hands and then the woman said ‘it’s really nice to eat you.’ she did not see ‘meet,’ she said ‘eat.’ ‘it’s really nice to eat you,’ she said. i’m sure my eyeballs jumped and i threw my hand to my heart. ‘it’s nice to meet you too,’ i managed to get out between...

hold up!
i love being put on hold on the telephone. i think it’s a moment in the day where i can kind of zone out and really listen to the music. and OH! The Music! today, while on hold, ‘learning to fly’ by tom petty came on. i was upset when a woman cut in to say ‘who are you holding for?’ rude.

you're a queer one, julie jordan
tonight, i’m going to see carousel. one of my most favorite musicals. it’s beautiful. last night, on the cab ride home, i was softly singing ‘you’ll never walk alone.’ i was in a reflective state of mind, see. i softly, to myself, sang ‘when you walk through a storm, keep your head up high…’ and then out of nowhere, the voice of an angel finished...

what a drag
lately, i’ve been thinking of drag names. not for myself. i’ve only toyed with cross-dressing on halloween and the countless times i’ve played hysterium in ‘a funny thing happened on the way to the forum’. or as robyn would say: ‘forum’ or ‘funny thing.’ N E WAYZ… i think ‘aunt artica’ (pronounced ahhunt) would be good....

two things
it’s surprising how anytime anyone mentions disney world, i really light up. i think they can see it in my eyes. what’s the appeal, i wonder? oh man. i just love that place a lot. on another note, last night, amalie and kate and i discussed the today show in length. it’s another subject that causes me a lot of joy. but amalie really couldn’t get over one question: is al...

good for what ale's you
this morning at work, we were talking about ginger ale. kate says that gingerale reminds her of airplane rides. amalie says gingerale reminds her of bourbon and a certain someone. i think gingerale reminds me of saltines and being sick. we had a little den off the kitchen of our house in st. louis. when i was sick, i’d lay on the sofa and watch david the gnome and my mom would bring me...
